Parent Counseling In a One-On-One Setting
Parenting can be tough, especially when it feels like your child is constantly pushing your buttons. Whether it’s nightly bedtime battles, tantrums over screen time, or disrespectful behavior, it can be draining. At home, you’re facing challenges, but outside the home, things seem fine. This leaves you wondering, why does your child save their worst behavior for you?
You’ve been told it’s normal, but you can’t shake the feeling that your connection with your child is suffering. You don’t have to figure it out alone.
As a parenting expert, I provide a non-judgmental space for parents to explore the causes behind their children’s behavior, allowing them to learn how to respond more effectively. The goal is simple: to strengthen your relationship with your child and make parenting feel more manageable again.
If you want to strengthen your connection with your child and create lasting positive change, contact me today to get started.
What to Expect in Parent Counseling:
Parent counseling typically begins with an intake assessment followed by weekly sessions to develop and implement new strategies. Research shows it takes about 66 days to form a new habit (Lally, 2009). With that in mind, we will work together over several months to create new patterns and overcome challenges.
- First Session: We’ll identify the underlying causes of your child’s behavior and discuss your long-term goals.
- Custom Plan: Based on this information, I’ll create a personalized plan to help you and your child succeed.
- Follow-Up Sessions: These sessions focus on building the skills needed to teach your child positive behaviors.
The beauty of this process is that your child already trusts you and you know your situation better than anyone else. By the end of our work together, you’ll be the “expert” in your child’s eyes as you guide them to communicate their needs more effectively.
Flexible Session Options
- Virtual Sessions: Convenient video therapy via Google Meet, which is HIPAA-compliant, allows you to meet from home or during a lunch break.

Digging Deeper:
Often when I work with parents they realize that addressing their children’s behaviors is just the tip of the iceberg. Parenting is challenging for a number of reasons. Whether it is sorting out how to make your home or your schedule less stressful or discovering why some of your children’s behaviors feel more triggering than others I love helping parents dig in.
I use an Internal Family Systems approach to help parent slow down and pay attention to their own reactions so they can become more aware of what triggers them and why. From there I build my clients’ ability to do “internal parenting” so that they are able to get in touch with their own hurt protective parts and help them heal. Clients find that after doing this work they are better able to parent with intention and to respond to their children rather than reacting with big emotions.
