Are you tired of feeling guilty about your frustrated feelings towards your child? Do you go to bed exhausted by constant battles? Do you catch yourself daydreaming about when your child was younger and your relationship was so much easier? We all love our children but sometimes it’s hard to like them when they are constantly pushing us away with their behavior.
I am a mom too, and I get it. I know how difficult parenting is — especially when you are stressed out and exhausted. Seeking out professional help can feel scary and overwhelming. That’s why I specialize in creating a safe space where parents and children can feel heard and understood. Once you understand what is behind your child’s behaviors and how to respond with confidence your relationship can start to change for the better. You don’t have to stay stuck in a cycle of stress and heartache that may ultimately impact your relationship with your other kids and your spouse.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and mother of two in Charlotte, NC. I earned a Masters degree in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003 and a Bachelors degree in Psychology from Duke University in 2001. I am a member of NASW and I was a Co-Chair of NASW’s Charlotte/Mecklenburg Local Programming Unit from 2009-2017.
I have extensive experience as a behavioral therapist working with children and their parents in a variety of settings. I also have a NC License in School Social Work and I have used this training to work directly with teachers to come up with customized plans in the classroom. Using my training in Therapeutic Mindfulness, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, and Brainspotting I will help you build on what is already going well and make changes that are in line with your families unique strengths and values.
What does all this mean to you? It means I can help. I know my stuff. This is my passion and my calling. If you are ready to take the first steps to creating positive change, contact me and let me help you regain joy while parenting your child.
